Keep warm, keep safe

Category:Industry news Release date:2021-11-01 17:04:00

The La Ni ñ a phenomenon has already formed in 2020, and some experts predict that this winter will be a cold winter. In order to keep warm during the cold winter, many buildings nowadays use insulation layers on their exterior walls. But often, it is precisely this insulation layer that keeps warmth but fails to ensure safety.

Frequent occurrence of fires

In multiple fires, the external wall insulation layer seems to always lend a helping hand. Flames burst out of balconies or windows, igniting the external wall insulation layer and spreading upwards to other floors.

Why is it so flammable?

According to experts' investigation, these external wall insulation materials of the building on fire use insulation materials with poor fire resistance, such as polyurethane foam, polystyrene foam, etc., which are flammable and easily ignited. Moreover, this type of material burns quickly, releases a large amount of heat, spreads rapidly, and is prone to forming three-dimensional fires that connect the inside and outside of buildings in a short period of time. It is difficult to extinguish and the toxic gases released during combustion pose a great threat to personal safety.

Common external wall insulation materials

The commonly used building exterior wall thermal insulation materials in China include silicate thermal insulation materials, rubber powder polystyrene particles, steel wire mesh plus cement foam board, extruded board, YT inorganic active wall thermal insulation materials. These materials are most commonly made of XPS, EPS, polyurethane, rubber sponge, polyethylene, polystyrene foam and other raw materials.

Building fire prevention is related to safety

Fire is more fierce than a tiger, and a careless move could burn down a towering building. Fire prevention is particularly important for high-rise buildings. In recent years, various standards for exterior wall insulation materials have been gradually revised and upgraded, such as the "Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings" and the "Action Plan for Promoting the Production and Application of Green Building Materials", which have made requirements for the flame retardancy and environmental friendliness of building materials.

Rubber insulation material

Rubber and plastic materials are mainly made of high-quality rubber and polyvinyl chloride (NBR/PVC), which are mixed and foamed through mixing, compounding, continuous extrusion, heating foaming, cooling and cutting.

Widely applicable fields

Rubber insulation materials are widely used in the cold and hot medium pipelines and containers of industries and equipment systems such as central air conditioning, construction, chemical, pharmaceutical, textile, metallurgy, ships, vehicles, and electrical systems to achieve the effect of reducing cold and heat losses.

Rubber insulation materials have excellent comprehensive properties such as thermal insulation, shock absorption, noise reduction, flame retardancy, and moisture resistance. They also have the advantages of easy construction, clean and beautiful appearance, and pollution-free use. Rubber insulation materials will play an increasingly important role in the field of building insulation.
