The Guangzhou Museum of Art (Guangzhou Art Museum) covers an area of over 30000 square meters, with a total construction area of nearly 80000 square meters, floors ranging from 8 meters to 19.5 meters, and an exhibition line length of about 2600 meters. It is located in the core area of the new central axis of Guangzhou city, with the theme of "Heroic Flower Blooming in the Water", highlighting the Lingnan style and regional characteristics of Guangzhou, while strengthening the charm and beauty of new era art museum architecture. The building not only has functions such as collection, research, protection, exhibition and communication, but also a new Lingnan style building that combines modern building materials and techniques with contemporary art. It is also an important urban landmark for showcasing Guangzhou's cultural image and is currently one of the largest professional art exhibition halls in Asia.

The new building of Guangzhou Museum of Art (Guangzhou Art Museum) was jointly designed by Herzog and partner architectural design firm from Germany, South China University of Technology, and Guangdong Provincial Institute of Architectural Design and Research Co., Ltd. It not only saves energy but also achieves a perfect integration of architectural technology and aesthetics. Combining photovoltaic technology and building energy-saving technology, the building energy-saving rate of Guangzhou Art Museum has reached 50%.
